An answer to a similar question from Turbotax says: "We automatically select the deduction that gives you the best outcome on your federal taxes. Most 2020 federal tax filers will be better off with the standard deduction versus the itemized deduction." But, I just checked the box manually and my taxes go down. I think it has something to do with AMT and the mix of income but is this a flaw in the program that it did not select this automatically???
