Child tax credit

I’m a single mother with 2 kids currently.

2020 Last year I made about 17000 and had only one child. I received all three stimulus checks plus my 2020 tax refund I had money in savings all together I had about 25000 saved. I became pregnant sept 2020. I only work Jan and feb (after taxes my checks together were maybe 1200) I then decided to take off to spend time with my daughter before my son was born. I also received child support (not court ordered he just gives it to me willingly) from my baby’s father with that and money I had saved so I wasn’t worried money I knew I had enough. I qualified for the child tax credit. I’m currently only receiving it for my daughter as The portals not available to update and add my son. I do not plan on going back to work until 2022. My question is when I file 2021 taxes will I receive the second half of the ctc for my daughter and the full amount for my son ? Or will I have to pay back the $1800 (she’s 3-$300x6) ) I received since I didn’t make in 2021 no where close to what I had in 2020?

Deductions & credits

The newly enhanced child tax credit is not tied to how much you earned by working so no, you will not have to pay back the amount you receive as monthly payments when you file your 2021 tax return even if you do not work in 2021.   And....later in the summer the portal is supposed to be ready to allow you to enter new information about your family so you may be able to enter information about your younger child to start receiving monthly amounts for that child if you want to do that.   Or you can leave it as is and get the full amount for the younger child when you file your 2021 tax return.
