I am a 21 yr old college student with unearned income as identified by the free Turbo Tax filing software. Is there a way to declare myself as an independent so that I will not have to complete form 8615? My parents did not claim my unearned income on their taxes, but the software will not allow me to move past this form so that I can submit my federal tax return electronically.
