Deductions & credits
You enter what you paid out of pocket. There is a separate place to enter your prescription costs, payments to medical facilities, insurance premiums, etc.
You can deduct things like medical and dental fees, co-pays, eyeglasses, prescriptions, lab fees, surgery, and hospital facility fees. But you can also deduct dentures, contact lens cleaning solution, hearing aid batteries, crutches, mileage to and from the doctor, and expenses for a service dog? See this IRS page on medical expenses to learn which expenses you're allowed to deduct. More on What You Can Deduct.
