@shakeyknees - agreed no need to return the stimulus.   The way Congress passed the law is that if you receive stimulus, it is yours to keep and no need to return it. 

 

The situation you describe was anticipated by Congress and they specifically stated nothing would be required to be returned. 

 

Similarly, if you look very, very, closely at Line 30 of the 2020 tax return, the result can not be negative, which is another way of stating that if you received stimulus based on your 2019 income and now your 2020 tax return shows a higher number, you are not going to be asked to return any of the money. 

 

What is on Line 30 of your 2020 tax return; it won't be negative and I suspect it will be zero they way you described your situation.
