Where you enter information for the Home Office Deduction depends on how you use the space:

  • If you are paid as an independent contractor (Form 1099-MISC), report your income and expenses (including your home office) on Schedule C (under the Business tab in TurboTax Home & Business).
  • If you are paid as an employee (W-2), report your expenses (including your home office) under Deductions & Credits >> Employment Expenses >> Job-Related Expenses.

The easiest way to to find either topic in TurboTax is to use the Search box at the top right side of the TurboTax header. Enter the topic you need, hit Enter, then click on the "jump to" link to go directly to the start of this section.

Or go to My Account >> Tools >> Topic Search. Type in the topic you need, then click the link in the list.
