@akeerbs6 I do understand. The Form 1098-C does not allow a value when the charitable organization is not selling the vehicle. And none is required on the form.
For the reasons you mentioned you are not getting your allowed deduction so steps were provided to make that happen for your tax return with all the required criteria. There is no tax law requirement for the Form 1098-C to be completed with your tax return and the IRS will have a copy just like the one you have.
- The fact that Box 5a is checked 'Donee certifies that vehicle will not be transferred for money, other property, or services before completion of material improvements or significant intervening use' allows you to check the box on the following screen which says: 'The charity made a material improvement to the vehicle before they sold it' because they do say essentially the same thing.
