Amended refund to claim dependant

So my girlfriend lives with me along with her 2 kids that are my dependants. Lives in our household 100% of the year and I pay all of the children's needs throughout the year.

Well long story short, I wasn't going to claim the kids on my 2019 taxes and I was just going to claim my girlfriend and my son. And the 2 kids  dad claimed them on his. Which I totally disagreed with and was totally happy with the 1000$ I would receive instead of the 4000$ blah blah blah drama ended up happening and the father ended up acting like the true person he is. So I amended my taxes knowing that it was going to trigger a rejection and an audit. That's what I was hoping for. And that's what I wanted to happen for being wronged and claim the kids rightfully and correct on my taxes. So I amended them with the 1040x and waited and waited and waited. 6 months later the amended return was accepted and I was issued a refund. I'm not complaining about the 1000$ that was rightfully ours. But it defeated the whole purpose of amending my taxes in the first place, I wanted to be audited and I wanted my return to be rejected to start that process to prove that the kids live with me 100% of the time. I'm not sure if they put 2 and 2 together and noticed that since I claimed the mother and she has claimed the kids in the past and he has never claimed them whatsoever except this 2019 year that they just saved time and an audit and went ahead and did what I wanted to be done and sent him a bill to pay that money back or what? Idk. Just thought it was odd that they didn't do anything but send me the money. Any help would be appreciated
