Can you claim a solar energy credit if you made a payment in 2020 but the system wasn't installed until 2021?

For example, I paid a deposit on the system in 2020 and then paid the balance when install was completed in 2021. Can I receive a tax credit on the deposit since the cost was incurred in 2020?
