The Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) program is a homebuyer assistance program designed to help lower‐income families afford home ownership. The program allows home buyers to claim a dollar‐for‐dollar tax credit for a portion of mortgage interest paid per year, up to $2,000.
Please follow the steps below to enter your "MCC tax credit" Mortgage Credit Certificate:
- Select the “Federal Taxes” tab
- Select the “Deductions & Credits” tab, then
- Scroll down to "Your Home” and click on "Show More"
- Scroll down to Mortgage Interest Credit Certificate and click on Start
- Answer “Yes” to “Do You Have a Mortgage Credit Certificate” and select “Continue”
- Continue with through the step-by-step to enter your Mortgage Credit Certificate
