Year-over-year comparison misleading in TurboTax
I'm seeing misleading presentations in TurboTax for the year-over-year comparison for Deductions & credits.
Even though the standard deduction is applied both years, a line is being presented for vehicle registration fees, showing the 2019 amount accurately and $0 for 2020 even though the 2020 tax information was entered correctly when prompted. If you add the 2019 deductions + student loan interest, you get the total shown for deductions and credits actually applied in 2019, and the vehicle registration fee is not part of the total since the standard deduction was applied even though that's a line item onscreen in the 2019/2020 comparison.
Also, for 2020, the total displayed is actually the sum of the standard deduction + student interest + $300 charitable contributions deduction. However there is no line reflecting the charitable contributions deduction, so the line items onscreen do not sum to the total onscreen.
As far as I can tell, this confusing presentation of year-over-year information is information-only, and there is no impact to the actual 2020 tax return itself. Would appreciate a response on this matter, and a confirmation of my conclusion about the 2020 tax return itself.
