Deductions & credits
You did not mention what type of property tax you need to change, so there will be more than one option at the bottom for you to try.
One of the most common places to enter property tax is along with your mortgage interest. However, there are other places to enter property taxes depending on what type you paid. Use the following steps to revisit different sections of your tax return until you find the property tax that you are looking to edit:
On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
This opens a box where you can type in “mortgage interest” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
The search results will give you an option to “Jump to mortgage interest”
- Click on the blue “Jump to mortgage interest” link
If you did not find what you needed using the steps above, change the search term to one of these options: property taxes – real estate, property taxes – auto, or property taxes – other. Be sure to enter it just as it is typed here.
If this was not the kind of help you needed with regard to property tax, please add more information.
