Work Related Expenses from Semester Teaching Abroad
Hi, my wife spent two months in the winter of 2016 teaching in South Korea for her job at an American university. The American university paid for her flight to and from South Korea and paid for her lodging there for two months. However, my wife incurred costs from the necessity of setting up a new household there for the duration - luggage for her items, clothes for the entirely different climate, food and furnishing and educational materials expenses, etc. These costs might be considered non deductible here at home, but what about in the context of being sent by your W2 employer to another country?
