The direct answer to your question is yes.  You should go to your pay stub and indicate the gross taxable wages (wages less 401K, HSA or other deductions) and the amount of federal income tax that was withheld.

 

The W-4 communicates to your employer(s) how much federal and/or state tax you and your spouse wish to have withheld from each paycheck in a pay period.
