I have three minor children (50/50 joint physical custody). In my Divorce Decree, it states I get to claim the oldest child every year, my ex gets to claim the middle child every year, and we alternate claiming the youngest child (I get odd years, she gets even years). So this year my ex gets to claim the youngest.
My question is, while going through TurboTax, it asks how many months the youngest lived with me this year. I answered 6 months (because it's 50/50 custody on a 5-5-2-2 custody schedule). After I finished answering all of the information regarding the youngest, TurboTax stated I get a credit for her, and it listed her as a Dependent. I just want to make sure I'm not accidently trying to claim her as a Dependent when this is my ex's year to claim her as a Dependent. Any help would be appreciated.
