I file a joint return. My wife passed away in January, 2020. No stimulus checks were received in 2020. TurboTax is providing me $2,400 in credits. However, it is my understanding that amounts of stimulus credit must be returned if a taxpayer is deceased prior to the issuance of the stimulus checks. However, do I adjust TurboTax's amount of $2,400 to $1,200. It seems TURBOTAX NEEDS TO BE UPDATED as to include an option for instances when a taxpayer is deceased prior to the issuance of the COVID stimulus checks so that credits will not be overstated.
