That is just crazy - I have a Form 5498 from the IRS for 2018 anyway and no one has said this can't be recouped. Because of the way conversions are done and since 5498 are not always available, I was told that the IRS will accept good faith entries. And how on earth is the end user supposed to know that an 8606 is required to be filed. I appreciate your help but this just a pain .
