Deductions & credits

1. As I understand form 5498-SA is for my records only. Does TurboTax software needs me to upload it?   NO ... those forms are informational only.  The contributions are on the W-2 box 12 code W and are entered on the W-2 screen only.

2. I do need to upload both 1099-SA forms to TurboTax. Correct?  The total distribution from both forms needs to be entered  ... not sure you can import the forms and it is not needed ... just enter the total yourself.

The HSA is handled in 3 parts in the TT program :

First the contribution:

Next the limitations screen to confirm you are eligible to make the contributions:

Until you complete the HSA portion of the TurboTax interview to establish your eligibility for an HSA contribution, TurboTax will treat the amount entered on the W-2 form as an excess HSA contribution.
