I am filing for the year 2018 and have a question on the penalty for not having health insurance. My mother lived with me for the entire year and I took care of all her needs. I am filing as the Head of Household filing status. My mother did not have any health insurance as she has no earnings. The tax form indicates a penalty for someone who did not have insurance. However, there were no affordable plans for the little income my mother has. I had insurance all year through my employer. Do I have to pay for the Health Insurance penalty for my mother if I am filing as HOH?
