Deductions & credits
It Depends.
If you are able to itemize your deductions as opposed to taking the standard deduction, you may be able to take a deduction for your unreimbursed medical expenses.
The deduction is limited to qualified medical expenses which exceed 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income.
I recommend you go back and just continue to add your deductions in the program until you have entered them all.
You can do this by going to the Personal Tab.
- Select Deductions & Credits
- Select I'll choose what I work on
- You should see a list of all the possible deductions.
- Select start for Medical (Medical expenses)
- After you have entered all of your deductions, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select Done with Deductions.
Once you select Done with Deductions, select continue and it will tell you which deduction you are getting, whether it be standard or itemized. It may be possible you are hitting enter and it is selecting the Done with Deductions button.
