Deductions & credits
It depends if there is some other issue with the charitable donation. Some states allow for a deduction for an additional deduction for donations.
To make sure it is fully deleted, I suggest to follow these steps in TurboTax:
*Close out of the program and re-open it:
- In TurboTax Online:
- Sign Out of your TurboTax program
- Close the browser window
- Wait a minute
- Open a new, incognito Chrome window
- Sign in to your TurboTax program
- In TurboTax Desktop:
- From the main menu under Online or Help, depending on your program level, click Check for Updates
- Close out of the program
- Wait a minute
- Re-open the program
*Delete all related donation pages:
- From the left menu, select Tax Tools
- Tools
- Delete a Form
- Scroll down to Charitable Organization and delete all related forms by clicking delete and confirming the deletion for each donation related page.
- Also look for anything else related to Charitable Donations in the federal return such as Form 8283
- And check the state return for any Schedule A details
*Lastly, re-run the federal and state reviews.
