Deductions & credits

Yes, the self-employed health insurance deduction allows eligible self-employed folks to deduct up to 100% of health, dental, and long-term care insurance premiums for themselves and for their spouses, dependents, and non-dependent children under age 27.

In TurboTax, you enter your self-employed health insurance premiums in the Business Expenses section of your business.

The deduction is limited to the amount of net income (profit) of your business.

Enter the expenses as business expenses on your Schedule C under Other Common Business Expenses > Health Insurance Premiums.

TurboTax will transfer the amount to line 29 of Schedule 1 of form 1040.
