while the House has not passed the bill yet, the way the bill reads is that there is a $500 check sent for each 'qualified child' who are those that are under 17 years old. it's based on the 2019 tax return (or 2018 if you have yet to file 2019)
'wrong' would be defined by what the law says, not what an individual may think.
the law also calls for a letter to be sent to you explaining how much you are to receive / have received. I'd wait until that letter comes to decide your next steps. I can't imagine that letter comes any earlier than 2-6 weeks from now; that is just my guess.
