Deductions & credits
You need to report your foreign wages in the foreign earned income section even if you are not claiming the foreign earned income exclusion. To get to this location, enter foreign earned income in the Search bar at the top of the screen and click the Jump to link.
Open your return:

On the first screen it will ask you what form your foreign income was reported on, you need to check a statement from my foreign employer

On the next screen enter your Foreign Earned Income

Then you will be asked to confirm your foreign earned income *

If you are not taking the foreign earned income exclusion and only taking foreign tax credit, on the screen that says do you want to see if you qualify to exclude your foreign earned income , click no if you do not want to or .... If you want to try to exclude your income, click yes

If you clicked 'no" the program with delete the 2555 form but it will keep your foreign wages you entered in the software

If you want to try to exclude your foreign earned income then say Yes and continue through the forms

If not, go to the foreign tax credit section to claim the foreign tax credit.

If you claim the exclusion, you can also claim the credit.
To go to the foreign tax credit section, enter foreign tax credit in the search bar at the top of the screen and click the Jump to link.
