HSA and additional out of pocket expenses
I have an HSA account that I use to pay for some medical expenses/medical payment plans and prescriptions. We also incurred a significant amount of medical debt that we paid out of pocket, OUTSIDE of the HSA. When itemizing, am I to add EVERYTHING that was paid medical-wise? What I'm finding turbo tax is doing is taking what I inputted as actual out of pocket medical costs & subtracting the distribution amount from the HSA out of that, which is NOT the case. What the distribution of the HSA paid for was different medical costs. Am I to add our actual out of pocket plus what the HSA actually paid for so that their calculations are accurate? Does this make sense?
