Maryland Larry Hogan introduced legislation to continue the hometown heroes deduction (it was a deduction, not a credit) in early 2019, but it apparently did not pass as it is no longer in the instructions for form 502SU (it was subtraction code rr).
So, at this point, there is no Hometown Heroes benefit, at least, not under this name.
