Unfortunately, from time to time Federal and State FORMs have to be revised and approved.  This is a dynamic process and we aggressively pursue it.  At this point the target date for almost all forms is 02/12/2020.

Included are LINKs both for the Federal and State FORM status

Thanks John, but if the form isn't ready, then why do I continue to receive emails from TurboTax saying the form is ready.  Must be a glitch somewhere.

There may be a different issue.  You may have to clear your Cache & Cookies.  This has frequently caused problems with the loading of forms.

The IRS site shows that the form is available, however the TurboTax software shows 'available soon'.  Clearing Cache hasn't helped.

I guess I'll have to call in for help.  The app still says form available soon.  When I check for updates, system says I'm up to date.

What version of the software are you using? Are you using online/mobile or desktop version?

@jkuehn

Form 8889 has been available for months. Apparently, your copy of TurboTax is failing to recognize that it needs to be updated.

Please try the following:

  • re-install your Windows software (this will not affect your tax return if you have closed TurboTax first)
  • see this FAQ to learn how to manually update the Windows software
