Dear experts,
What payroll deductions are pre-tax for federal, state and FICA? I have jobs in NJ and MD and I request your help with the following questions.
I make payroll contributions to:
- 401K
- Health insurance premiums
- Dependent care FSA
Which of the above deductions are Federal, FICA and State income (mainly NJ and MD) tax-exempt? This is not related to my income tax filing. I am trying to use a calculator to estimate my pay-checks so I can plan accordingly. My employer in unfortunately withholding inaccurately and just saying it is not a big deal if I have to pay at the end of the year.
