Just received a letter from (supposedly) my state (MI) Treasury wanting me to send them verification that the return I filed through Turbo Tax was really mine. They want copies of 1099's, W-2's, Driver's Licenses, and SS info. With all the fraud schemes around these days, I am really worried about sending this kind of data. I have never heard of this kind of request from a state government. What should I do?
