State tax filing

It sounds like you need to review your input.  There may be other income allocated to New Mexico that are from other sources.

Form NM PIT-B is used to allocate income if you have income within and outside of New Mexico so you need to ensure you have entered all of the applicable information for all of the states.

Review your entries in the My Info section of TurboTax to confirm that you have entered the correct state information:

  1. Click "Edit" to the right of your name
  2. Confirm your input under #2 "Tell us the state(s) you lived in"
  3. Do the same for your spouse if you are married filing jointly.
  4. Go back to the personal information section, and verify the mailing address and "Other state income" section. You would enter the name of any other states where you have earned income during the year.

Review your input on your W-2 Wages under the Income & Expenses section.

Confirm that you have entered the correct state for each W-2 in Boxes 14-15.

Do the same for any other sources of income you may have to ensure they are being reported in the correct state.

After you have confirmed the above, prepare your nonresident state return first and ensure only the income earned in that state is reported on your nonresident state tax return.  Proceed through the screens carefully to ensure you have answered each question accurately as it applies to your particular situation.
