Thanks for the reply. Very interesting that TurboTax will be making an update. I certainly agree with your interpretation. Here's one other additional tidbits of information. I am a VITA tax preparer volunteer (do taxes for free for folks based on certain income qualifications and other). The VITA program uses TaxSlayer to prepare taxes and TaxSlayer does not reduce the amount of charitable contribution on the VT state form used to calculate the non-refundable tax credit.
