State tax filing
For the state you do not live in, you would file a non-resident return. That return should only include the income earned in that state.
Then, you will need to file a resident return for the state you live in. Your resident return will include all of your income, no matter where earned. But your state may give credit for taxes paid to another state, so that is why the recommendation is to create the non-resident return first.
In the personal information section of TurboTax (My Info for TurboTax online), you will need to specify that you made money in another state. This is what will trigger the non-resident return to be created.
