State tax filing

Unfortunately, it may be best to delete the state return and restart. If your return is in line with previous years and you just have W-2 income, you should have no problem e-filing your New York return. There must have been something entered erroneously on the state side, which would explain the need for state estimated taxes as well. Thankfully, mostly everything on the state side flows from the federal input, so it will not take you much time.

Please follow these instructions:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Click State on the left hand side.
  3. Delete the New York state return with the trash can icon.
  4. Click on Add a State.
  5. Choose New York
  6. Follow the instructions on the following screens.

Please let me know if you should encounter any further issues.
