State tax filing
It depends. There is one situation when you may be required to file a California nonresident return. If you are married and filing a joint Federal return, then you file a joint return for California also. However, if your spouse was not a full-year California resident, California requires you to file a joint return as a nonresident in order to exclude the amount of your spouse's income that was not California source income (income either earned in California or earned while living in California). If your situation is different, please comment.
