Thanks again, this addresses the statements about Louisiana. When reading the paper instructions for filing in Louisiana, our new home state, their words are clear that filing in Louisiana requires the same filing status as was done on the Federal level. That's what I was referring to originally. While using Turbo Tax, I was filing Jointly at Federal level and the question from TT was to be answered as either all year resident of Virginia or not or neither (just income from Virginia). So choosing all year Virginia = $2400 tax bill, choosing not all year Virginia = $500 tax refund. Makes sense except TT doesn't allow proceeding beyond the screen that says essentially, we think you should file Separately. There is no option to move forward. Any idea what to do?
