State tax filing
It depends.
Filing as a nonresident in Louisiana does not affect your status as Married Filing Jointly.
It simply means that you do not reside in Louisiana.
You can still file a joint return in Louisiana while filing as a nonresident.
You need to look at your intent. If you have set up a domicile in Virginia and no longer reside in Louisiana, you would file as a full year resident in Virginia. If your spouse lives in another state, then you may need to file using the Mixed Residency status.
