State tax filing
I apologize for the delay in replying! Unfortunately, with all of the recent events, things have been overrun with questions regarding the stimulus payments, and I was unable to see your question!
Thank you for the Token number. I was able to look at your return and find a way to remove the error with California.
I recommend you do the following to help eliminate the error.
- Go into your Federal input under the Personal tab.
- Select Personal Income
- Select I'll choose what I work on
- Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
- Select Update to the right of Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099)
- Write down the amounts you have listed for each box on a piece of paper as you will need to reenter them (unless you have your Form SSA-1099, in which case just make sure you have that form in front of you)
- Delete each of the entries on this screen for your SSA-1099 Form.
- Select Continue once all of the amounts have been deleted
- Select Done with Other Income
- On the top, select Federal review and run the review
- Then go to the Forms section and scroll down to Schedule CA
- Select the Plus sign to the right of Line 5 - Social security benefits
- Delete the X in the box at the top which says "Check this box to NOT print this supporting detail". Delete the description and amount boxes as well
- Select Close
- Go back to the Step by Step and select the state return
- Go through the screens if needed until you get to the state review screen.
- Run the state review again. Your error message should be gone now.
- Go back into your federal return and re-input your Social Security income under the Personal Income tab as listed in steps 2-5 above.
- After you enter your Social Security income again, go ahead and select Review to the right of the State Taxes tab. Your return should not have any other issues and you should be able to electronically file.
Please comment and tag me if you are still having issues once your run the steps again so we can address your return and get you filed. Thank you for your patience!
