If you were using TurboTax Online for your return last year, you would not have paid for the return until you were ready to file it.
If you were using TurboTax online to prepare your 2018 return, you will have to download and install the 2018 version to your computer. The online version is now only for 2019 returns. You can purchase the 2018 program by going to this link: TurboTax Previous Years Products.
You can download the actual TurboTax file of the return (.tax2018) and complete it using the 2018 TurboTax program downloaded to your computer.
To do this, please follow these steps:
- Sign in to your TurboTax account. You will be on your Tax Home screen.
- Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents.
- Select 2018 (if it's not already highlighted).
- Select Download .tax file. The file with automatically download.
- Your online return will be found in the Downloads folder on your computer.
To open the return in TurboTax desktop edition, click on the Find a Tax File link on the opening screen and then navigate to the Downloads folder
