State tax filing
Yes, you are correct, you can deduct your moving expenses on your New York tax return. Here is where to enter that:
- Login and continue your return.
- Select State from the left side menu.
- Click Continue.
- Click Continue or Edit to the right of New York.
- Keep going until you get to the screen with Changes to Federal Income at the top.
- Scroll down until you find Other changes (adjustments) to your federal income under Other New York adjustments to federal income.
- Click Start to the right.
- Click Continue.
- About halfway down the Other Subtractions page, you will find Qualified moving expense reimbursements and moving expenses.
