I cannot believe that I owe NC tax money on my income from my 401k payout in Tennessee and my previous jobs in Tennessee. I do not now or have never lived in North Carolina. My employment in North Carolina was for only 2 weeks before the end of the year. No way am I paying them taxes on my money I earned in Tennessee. This makes no sense to me. Someone please explain to me why North Carolina has any right to money I earned in my home state. I am totally confused. I already owe the IRS because I had to withdraw my 401k to pay for my cancer diagnosis. This stinks.
