Alabama Non-Resident state taxes were taken by mistake
Employer finally sent a corrected W2 to the Alabama Department of Revenue, for the year 2018, a few weeks ago. Alabama Dept. of Revenue confirmed that they received it, however they are insisting that I fill out a State Refund form before I can get my money back. We are not talking about a small amount here.
I am in TurbTax now, attempting to file for a return. It correctly selected the non-resident tax form. I am on the screen where it asks me the name of my employer, but it only gives me an option to choose "Retired" or "None".
So now I am stuck because the application will not give me a form to enter in the amount that needs to be refunded...
Filing on the Alabama Dept. of Revenue site is not an option since it won't let me register for an account. It says my entries (social security number) is not recognized... most likely because I am not a resident and never have been.
