State taxes for remote work
Hey guys,
I work remotely for a company (non-profit) in New York, but currently live in California. I used to work from their office, when I lived in NY earlier this year. I moved out of NY in April, but didn't start remotely until June, in California.
I just realized I am still listed on my paystubs as living at my NY address, and I'm paying NY taxes.
What are my next steps? Inform HR of the move and change my information? What do I need to do/look out for tax season? I'm a bit worried as I've read NY and California are brutal when it comes to paying state taxes.
Thank you!
