Why must I e-file my Massachusetts state tax return if I am a part-year resident?
I filed my federal and state tax return last year via print and mail with the official forms that TurboTax generated. I've since moved to Tennessee for a job and need to file my Massachusetts state tax return by mail as well. But when I go through the exercise of generating the documents to print out, all of the Massachusetts forms are watermarked with "DO NOT MAIL, E-FILE ONLY, DO NOT MAIL".
Is this new? I've always used the software to prepare my tax returns but I prefer to print and mail all the forms. Is it because I am not a part-year resident? I purchased the Deluxe version of TurboTax via CD, so it should come with 1 state and I used it for Massachusetts. I don't understand why I can't print the official forms without the watermarked background.
