State tax filing

You do not have to file a Mississippi return, if the W-2G is your only Mississippi income.

  • Per the Mississippi instructions:
  • Gambling winnings reported on a Form W-2G are subject to a non-refundable 3% income tax.
  • A non-resident with only gambling winnings and/or losses should not file a Mississippi tax return.
The tax on your gambling winnings has already been paid.  Nothing further needs to be done.
