State tax filing
Actually, you will file as a full-time resident of Illinois, and file a Michigan return with a zero income. It's because Michigan and Illinois are reciprocal states. The other questions were to establish if you were a California resident by definition. Since you state you do not have a permanent home there, then Illinois is your residence. All of your income will be taxed in Illinois, you will receive a refund from Michigan, but pay Illinois tax on all of your income.
