State tax filing

Certainly, you can add a Delware nonresident state tax return to your existing tax return program.  Filing a tax return for Delaware is the only method, in fact, to claim a tax refund from the state.  In TurboTax, you can easily add a nonresident state tax return to your file in a number of different ways.

One of easiest of those methods is visually described in the series of screen-capture images found beneath this text (simply click to open).  Just return to the Personal Information section of TurboTax, indicate to the program that you "Made money in another state" (even where this is not true, it is this action that will cause the program to add a nonresident Delaware tax return to your file).

Then, simply go through your federal and (other state) tax return(s), but input no actual income for Delaware.  When appropriate, indicate where asked in the interview that you have paid taxes to Delaware, and that you now wish to claim that back in the form of a Delaware state refund.  (How you complete this latter step will depend on your particular circumstances; the other instructions above address only how to generate a Delaware nonresident return itself.)

If you need more help with that last part, or if you encounter any difficulties with anything else, please feel free to contact us.  You can speak with a live tax expert, who can walk you through your TurboTax entries (including the ability to screen-share with your computer).  As a paying customer, the call is free to you.  Here is a link where you can create a support ticket and reach us:
