State tax filing
No, investment income (to include interest income) is only subject to taxation by the IRS and the state where you live - you do not need to file a LA return unless you have wage, self-employment, rental, real estate or business income from LA.
Since TX doesn't have an income tax, you only owe federal income tax on this interest income.
