State tax filing

When you go to file your School District return, you should see a screen "Your school district taxes".  There should be two school districts listed there - your Ohio School District number (which should be the same as the 4 digit school district that is in the local taxes on your W2 and 9999 which is the code used for the time you lived outside the state of Ohio.  The dates used for those two school districts should account for the entire year of 2025.  For school district 9999, January 1, 2025 will be the starting date you will use for you time out of state and the day you moved will be used for the end date.  The day following the date you moved will be the start date of residence for your Ohio school district and 12/31/2025 will be the end date.

Bear in mind that not all Ohio school districts have an income tax, so you may want to check to be sure of the school district you live in.  There is a tool called The Finder where you can put in your street address and zip code and it will let you know the tax rate of your school district and whether the tax is based on your earned income only or if it is based on your total income (called "traditional").  This website will also let you know your local community income tax rate (if it has one).
