State tax filing
If the year is blank, it often indicates the form was added incorrectly or there is a glitch with the browser. Using a different browser or clearing your cache may also solve the issue.
Steps to Fix "Amended" State Error:
- Delete the Amendment Form (Most Reliable):
- Click on Tax Tools in the left menu.
- Select Tools.
- Choose Delete a form.
- Search for any forms related to the amendment (e.g., Form 1040-X, state-specific amend forms like IT-201-X) and delete them.
- "Un-amend" in the State Section:
- Go back into the State return section.
- Look for the screen asking "Let's Amend Your State Taxes".
- Ensure you answer "No" to amending the return if you are filing for the first time.
- Clear & Start Over: If you haven't paid or filed, you can use the "Clear & Start Over" option in the Tax Tools menu to reset the return.
