State tax filing

Here are some possible solutions to try.

Open in Adobe" Workaround (Most Successful)

  1. The built-in TurboTax PDF viewer often fails to render Form 8825, but the data is usually present in the file metadata.
  2. Go to File > Print Preview.
  3. In the preview window, look for a small Adobe Acrobat icon or an "Open in Reader" button (often located near the magnifying glass icons).
  4. Opening the return directly in Adobe Acrobat Reader instead of the TurboTax viewer often forces the "blank" layers to become visible.

2. The "Print Specific Forms" Method

  1. Instead of printing the whole return, try to isolate the form. This forces the software to use a different rendering path.
  2. Go to File > Print.
  3. Choose "Specific Forms" instead of "Tax Return for Filing."
  4. Check the boxes for Form 8825 and Schedule A (Form 8825) only.
  5. Select Preview or Print to PDF. If the data appears here, you can print just these pages from here.

You can also go to the forms mode in your return. Select 8825 in your list of forms and this will show up in the right-pane of your screen. Select the form to see if the information populates. If it does, select print at the bottom to see if it will print from here.
